VICTORIA
When: 16 October 2017 to 12 January 2018
Who: Skilled migration applicants nominating engineering and building occupations
What does this mean for me? Your application will not be accepted until after 12 January 2018
Exceptions: Applicants who have a job offer in Victoria in their nominated occupation, or meet the PhD or 457 pathways are not affected and can still apply during this time
QUEENSLAND Update #1
When: From 25 October 2017
Who: Interstate applicants (Applicants currently living in a different state)
What does this mean for me? You can no longer apply for Queensland state nomination.
Exception 1: Interstate applicants can still apply if you are eligible under the Working in Queensland or Alumni pathway:
Alumni pathway: recent Masters and PhD graduates from a Queensland university with a degree relevant to the eligible QSOL occupations
Working in Queensland: currently living and working in Queensland in their eligible skilled occupation (or closely related)
Exception 2: If you are an interstate applicant who has already received an invitation

When: From 22 August 2017 until further notice
What does this mean for me? QLD is still not accepting EOIs for Skilled Migration for the following occupations.

TASMANIA Update #1
When: From 1 October 2017
Who: Onshore 190 and 489 visa applicants applying for Tasmania state nomination under the Category 3 ‘Job Offer’ stream
What does this mean for me? You will now need to work in Tasmania for 3 months before lodging their application for state nomination. Previously having a job offer alone was acceptable.
TASMANIA Update #2
When: From 1 January 2018
Who: 190 visa applicants applying for Tasmania state nomination under Category 1 (Tasmanian Graduate)
What does this mean for me?
You now need to have completed 2 years of study at a CRICOS-registered Tasmanian tertiary institution instead of 1 year. For 489 visa applicants, it is still 1 year in order to be eligible for nomination for the 190 visa.
AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY
When: 23 August 2017
Who: 190 and 489 visa applicants applying for ACT state nomination from overseas
What does this mean for me?
ACT state government nomination is no longer available to you
Exceptions:
You are exempt from these changes if either:
1. You are living overseas but have family in Canberra
2. You are living overseas but have a genuine job offer in Canberra
3. You have completed a PhD at an ACT university
